I never saw the water coming out of the flower, I loved how kind of a sub-theme was his suppression turned acceptance of his dark and tragic sense of humor, which he then fully embraces in the last scene with Murray. This is awesome seeing Todd Phillips really putting so much thought into his vision, makes you way more appreciative.

i loved this movie, because even though it's set in a superhero comic-book universe, the realism in the emotions, actions and reactions made it feel like it COULD be real. People actually act that way, these are very real emotions and actions that COULD happen to someone.
It's very scary to think about what people could be going through. The entire movie hit on a very different level compared to other superhero movies, where all deaths and problems they have seem so distant and unrealistic.

This movie brings a seriousness, and a gritty down to earth quality, to the comic movie genre. I was never even a fan of superhero films because I thought they were too nerdy, and as you said, unrealistic. But Joker got me into the genre.

What would have happened if he was attacked on the subway first, then got a gun, and then got attacked by teenagers. It would have been an entirely different movie. Would he have understanding for the youngsters? Are these kids morally any better than the yuppies on the subway?

The whole movie, specially the first half, felt incredibly claustrophobic for me. I thought it was bc we were only following Arthur every scene and the amount of close shots there were, but i see that even little detail like having those buildings back there and not being able to see open sky contribute to the feeling

Really that flower at the end is not even an inch close to be depicting *a gag trying to make people laugh still at that point of empathy towards Arthur showing he is Joker* but it really gives the feeling he is bleeding out as a poor clown entity.
To fix that you should have used a gag sound added in post, it would have disrupted with the music and the gravity of the scene.

This movie is better than Nolan's batman in depicting Gotham (way too sterile and wooden in Nolan's Batman). "Joker" got the city spot on, the setting felt alive, the people's anger made sense and felt real.

I don’t know about other countries, but here in Brazil there are a few dealerships that rent luxury old cars to only tv and movie studios. Civilians can go in and take pictures with the cars, but they can’t buy or rent them. Maybe that’s what the studio did.
